Apple began the English beta on September 14. Siri can use messages, email, photos, screen content, and app actions, but access depends on device, region, language, and daily cloud limits.
New to this? Read it in simple words
- Apple began the public beta of Siri AI on September 14, in English. With permission, it can search a user’s messages, email and photos.
- It is not available in China. In the European Union, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch do not get it at first.
- This makes Siri more useful, but a mistake now costs more. It might find the wrong message or misunderstand a screen.
- Some cloud features have daily limits. Apple says users can later pay for more, but it has not published a price.
- Beta
- An early test version of a product. It may still change or have problems.
- Cloud
- Powerful computers in other places that people use over the internet.
The assistant now works with more of a person’s context
Siri AI can search a user’s messages, email, and photos when permission allows it. Apple says it can combine these details across several steps. For example, it may find a recipe in an email and add its ingredients to a shopping list.
The assistant can also understand some content on the screen. A person could ask about a sports page and then add future games to a calendar. This is more useful than a voice tool that only answers simple questions.
These abilities also increase the cost of a mistake. The system may find the wrong message, misunderstand a screen, or prepare an unwanted action. The interface should show the source and let the person check important changes before they happen.
Siri AI uses device and cloud models. Availability still depends on hardware, language, region, and daily limits.
Apple mixes local models with private cloud systems
Apple says the new system uses Apple Foundation Models made with help from Google and Gemini models. Some work runs on the device. Larger tasks can use Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers.
This split can protect private information and keep simple actions fast. It does not remove every risk. People still need clear controls for history, app access, cloud use, and deletion.
The new Siri app can sync conversation history through iCloud. This makes a discussion available across Apple devices. It also means the product must make saved history easy to find, correct, and remove.
The rollout has several practical limits
The beta starts in English. Apple plans French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support next month. Siri AI is not initially available on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch in the European Union, and it is not available in China.
Only devices that support Apple Intelligence can run the new features. Some server-based features also have daily limits. Apple says people will later be able to pay for more access, but it has not published the price.
A beta label is a fair warning that the system may change. Apple should report common failures, limits, and important safety updates. Users should test the assistant with low-risk tasks before trusting it with messages, files, or actions.
