A new business unit
Meta announced the Meta Enterprise Platform on September 28. Mark Zuckerberg called it the next major pillar of the company. The platform will bring Meta’s AI models, agents, infrastructure and business tools into one offer for companies.
The first list includes the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. An API is a connection that lets one program use another service. Meta did not give prices, release dates or a list of first customers.
The announcement says privacy and security will be built into the products from the start. It does not explain the data rules, service promises or controls that business customers will receive.
Products named by Meta. Prices, release dates and first customers are not yet public.
Meta hired an enterprise leader
Chirantan “CJ” Desai will lead the unit as chief enterprise platform officer. He will report directly to Zuckerberg. Desai is leaving MongoDB after less than one year as its chief executive.
He previously led product and engineering at Cloudflare. Before that, he spent almost eight years at ServiceNow, including time as president and chief operating officer. These jobs gave him experience selling important software to large organisations.
MongoDB shares fell about 18% in Monday trading after the move, Reuters reported. MongoDB brought back former chief executive Dev Ittycheria as interim leader while it searches for a replacement.
The hard part starts now
Meta has useful pieces. Muse can perform tasks, its models can support developers, and the company already works with millions of advertisers. Enterprise buyers, however, need stable contracts, careful access controls and support when systems fail.
Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic already sell AI for business work. Meta must show why a company should add another platform, and how its agents will work with existing data and security systems.
The hire makes the plan serious, but the product details remain thin. For now, this is a clear move into enterprise AI and a promise to build. It is not yet a complete platform that buyers can compare line by line.
