Who is in it
Trump announced the group in a Truth Social post on Sunday morning. CBS News, AP, ABC News and TechCrunch all printed parts of it.
Jay Clayton, the Director of National Intelligence, chairs it. TechCrunch says the vice chairs are FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Emil Michael and Scott Kupor.
Michael is the Pentagon’s under secretary for research and engineering, which AP calls its chief technology officer. Kupor directs the Office of Personnel Management, the government’s human resources agency.
The group reports to Trump and to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, CBS News and AP report.

What it is meant to do
Trump wrote that the group will coordinate federal work to “ensure that America continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence.” CBS News, AP and TechCrunch all quote this line.
It is to engage with consumers, public interest groups, religious organisations, critical infrastructure providers and AI companies, according to CBS News and AP.
TechCrunch quotes the group’s charter: it will plan responses to “SI-enabled threats” while “preventing overregulation and regulatory capture.” We found that line only in TechCrunch.
What is still missing
We found no executive order, fact sheet or budget for the group on whitehouse.gov. So far, Trump’s post is the only official text.
The 120-day deadline to report on AI’s risks and opportunities comes from Clayton’s interview with The Wall Street Journal. “The risk of not being first is high,” Clayton told the Journal, ABC News reports.
The announcement follows the White House accord of September 29. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Nvidia and SpaceXAI signed it, CBS News reports. Trump called its voluntary rules “morally binding”.

Trump’s Truth Social post is behind a login, so we quote it as CBS News, AP and TechCrunch print it; no outlet printed it in full. We read CBS News, AP (via PBS) and TechCrunch directly. Outlets give Michael’s title in different ways; it is one post. The 120 days and the charter line come from TechCrunch and the Journal interview, not the post. We checked whitehouse.gov and found no document on the group.
