Most AI models answer in text. TypeSafe AI’s model, Jev, answers with a decision instead: yes or no, a choice from a list, or a score, each with a probability. It launched on September 15, 2026.
The round
TypeSafe said on October 9 that it raised $870 million at a valuation of $7.5 billion. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, with Sequoia Capital, the earlier investor DCVC and individual backers. Bloomberg also reported the deal.
TypeSafe calls it a Series A, the first big round after a startup’s seed money. Martin Casado of Andreessen Horowitz joins the company’s board.

Less than four weeks after launch
When Jev launched on September 15, TypeSafe announced a $40 million seed round led by DCVC. The company was founded in 2024 by Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, Sasha Sheng and Erik Gafni, TechCrunch reports.
Jev spread very quickly after its release, TechCrunch reports. SiliconANGLE explains one reason: software can use its short answers directly, without first turning text into data.
What the company claims
TypeSafe says a third of the Fortune 500, the largest US companies, already use Jev. It has not named them. Andreessen Horowitz’s own post gives a lower share, 25%.
TypeSafe also says Jev has saved customers millions of dollars. It plans more models of the same kind and the features large companies have asked for.
The company says Jev is much faster and cheaper than models that write text. Its figures for that vary between its own pages and its investor’s, and no outside test has checked them.
